Resource Therapy is a parts therapy, like Ego State Therapy, but it does not require the use of hypnosis. It is my contention that some personality parts carry negative affect (Vaded States), some carry out unwanted behavior (Retro States), and some are conflicted with other states (Conflicted States). The precise condition of each pathological state can be diagnosed to understand the dynamic role it has assumed within the personality. This book will assist in the understanding of the etiology of issues including, but not limited to, OCD, depression, eating disorders, addictions, and PTSD. Technique regimens for working directly with the different Pathological States are clearly presented and illustrated. These techniques will enable therapists to gain direct access to the personality parts that hold pathology and to assist in resolution. Resolving the pathology of the Resource States alleviates the causes of psychological distress, and frees Personality Resources to resume positive functions.

This book is a MUST READ! Dr Emmerson's understanding and ability to easily relate his therapeutic insights and intervention techniques is a tremendously valuable gift. This is parts therapy and personality theory at its best.
Dr Emmerson provides refreshingly easy to follow, sensible and deeply tuned insights and techniques that actually work. It feels wonderful to have access to such a Master's cache of knowledge. He is a genuine guru when it comes to helping therapists understand their therapeutic roles and the intervention techniques required to affect true and lasting change. I've also read his smaller 'Primer' version which is wonderful too, especially as a quick 'go to' guide. This larger ,book explains everything the Primer offers, in much greater detail. it also explains the etiology of the work and a brief history of his current position as a therapist who comes from a strong academic background, discovering how to really bring lasting relief quickly and easily. A gift to both therapists and patients alike! Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge Dr Emmerson! I am looking forward to reading more work from this author.
This book has been extremely useful. Well written with very clear examples to demonstrate the theory, this in turn helps solidify the learning. Highly recommended.
